Municipal Theater

Inspired by the Paris Opera and considered to be the 7th wonder of the city, the building designed by Francisco de Oliveira Passos and by the French Albert Gilbert is as luxurious and imposing indoors and outdoors. Launched in 1909 it became the main show house in Brazil, and one of the most important ones in South America. Stage to erudite dance and music performances, both national and international, the theater is now home to two Symphonic Orchestras. To celebrate its 100th Anniversary, a work of recovery and modernization returned the elegance and glamour of the early years of the century.

Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Maracanã

Maximum symbol of the soccer homeland, the Mário Filho Stadium – as it baptized – keeps the memory of the Brazilian soccer. Launched in 1950 it perpetuated great achievements. Tourist and cultural heritage of Brazil, the stadium has hosted important names of the music, like Frank Sinatra, Madonna and Rolling Stones. The Hall of Fame launched during the celebrations of its 50th anniversary pays homage to the 50 stars that assisted making its history.

Opening hours: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including holidays.
